But a group of female stars who appeared slimmer than ever on the red carpet this week denied that that they have used extreme diets to lose weight.
Katherine Jenkins, Myleene Klass and Abbey Clancy were among those appearing at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards on Tuesday night who stunned onlookers with their slim figures.

presenter Myleene Klass, wearing a tiny lace dress from Littlewoods,
said that her slender figure was due to looking after her baby daughter.
Miss Klass has two daughters, one-year-old Hero and Ava, four.
She added: ‘I do eat, I don’t want to set a bad example to my daughters. I think you should always have what you fancy.
‘I think the most important thing is to be happy and healthy.’
Model Abbey Clancy also dispelled suggestions that she had dieted to achieve her slender figure after becoming a mother last year.
The 26-year-old, who gave birth to daughter Sophia Ruby last March, said: ‘Everyone is going on about my weight and I hate it. I’m happy with the way I look.’
Miss Clancy, who is married to footballer Peter Crouch, added: ‘I don’t have the exercise machines at home and all those weird things I keep reading about. I’m not on some weird diet.’
Opera star Katherine Jenkins made her first public appearance in the UK after starring in the US version of Strictly Come Dancing.
The classical singer wore a colourful Mary Katrantzou bandeau dress with Jimmy Choo peep-toe heels.
Earlier this month the 5ft 4in singer, formerly a healthy size 10 to 12, admitted that she had dropped to a British size six since appearing on the show in which she finished runner-up.
The 31-year-old, who split from fiancé Gethin Jones earlier this year, was looking notably slimmer on the red carpet.
In a previous interview she admitted that she preferred ‘being curvy’ and said ‘I am a little on the thin side at the moment’.
She added: ‘I’m eating anything and everything to put on weight.
Yesterday, I ate two massive salads with chips and chocolate cake and ice cream and a pizza. I haven’t had a good roast dinner in ages and I really miss beans on toast.’

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue was presented with an outstanding contribution award at the ceremony.
The Voice’s Jessie J was crowned best solo artist, receiving the award from her fellow judge Will.i.am.
