Sizzling chemistry: First trailer for The Great Gatsby shows Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan in steamy sex scene

It is a classic piece of literature and has been adapted to film no less than six times.
So the pressure was on Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire when it came to portraying the lead roles in The Great Gatsby.
Now, a first look at the chemistry between DiCaprio and Mulligan can be seen in an official trailer for the upcoming movie, which includes a steamy sex scene.

DiCaprio plays the elusive Jay Gatsby, while Mulligan stars as his love interest Daisy Buchanan.
And Tobey Maguire takes on the role of Daisy’s cousin Nick Carraway, from whose perspective the story is told.

Fans of the film’s director Baz Luhrmann, who has reunited with DiCaprio 17 years after Romeo + Juliet, will not be disappointed as his signature artistic style is evident in the teaser trailer.

A sneak peek at scenes showing Gatsby’s notorious parties seem to sum up the glamour and excess of the 1920s, when the movie is set.
The stars of the film can also be seen sporting traditional Twenties attire, with DiCaprio and Maguire donning suave suits and Mulligan dolled up in Flapper dresses.
The trailer flits between scenes of extravagant events at Gatsby’s mansion, and intimate moments between Gatsby and Daisy.

The plot follows Nick Carraway as he moves to Long Island and becomes transfixed by the lavish lifestyle of his mysterious neighbour, Jay Gatsby.
The pair form an unlikely friendship which leads to Gatsby enlisting the help of Nick in winning back his old flame, Nick’s cousin Daisy.
The film also stars Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Jordan Baker, Star wars actor Joel Edgerton, who plays Gatsby's millionaire love rival Tom Buchanan, and Isla Fisher, who plays Tom's unstable mistress Myrtle Wilson.
The movie, which was shot in Australia, is due to be released on December 25.
