All grown up: Joseph Mazzello is hoping to emerge from the shadows of his role in Jurassic Park after winning a part in the eagerly anticipated G.I. Joe: Retaliation

t has always been a tough task turning childhood stardom into success as an adult.
But it seems Joseph Mazzello is ready to finally step out of the shadow of his greatest triumph as 'that kid' from Jurassic Park 20 years on after landing a role in GI Joe: Retaliation.
It is somewhat ironic, as he is swapping the world of CGI dinosaurs for an action movie based on a line of children's action figures.

The 29-year-old will stand shoulder to soldier with the likes of Channing Tatum and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as they battle the minions of Cobra Command in the film, which is released this week.
He plays Mouse, who in the toy line was a 'clumsy mountain of a man' and an ace computer hacker serving with the short lived Screaming Eagles team.
However it seems they are taking some creative liberties with the character for while Joseph is in good shape, he is far from a beefcake.

No man mountain: Aficionados of the toy line will be quick to point out he is far removed from the original Mouse

The 29-year-old, who also had a role in 2010's Social Network, will be more than happy if his latest project achieves a fraction of the success of his early career highlight.
The Steven Spielberg special effects spectacular grossed a remarkable $369m off a $93m budget.
In the film he played Tim Murphy, the grandson of Jurassic Park's billionaire creator John Hammond, who was played by Sir Richard Attenborough.
When the dinosaurs are let loose by the disgruntled architect of the park's computer systems, he has to make his way to safety with the help of Dr Alan Grant, who was memorably portrayed by Sam Neill.
