Amy Adams goes for retro at Santa Barbara Film Festival as she's honoured for trailblazing career

And Amy Adams couldn't have looked better as she stepped out to the Santa Barbara Film Festival on Thursday evening, when she accepted the event's Cinema Vanguard Award.
The Master star and Oscar-nominee, 38, wore a black and white polka dot dress and peep toe pumps for a classic retro look as she was feted by a list of who's who in Tinseltown.

The festival, held only a couple hours north of star-studded Los Angeles, drew the co-stars of her latest drama, Joaquin Phoenix and director Paul Thomas Anderson, among others on Thursday evening.
The actress, who wore her hair swept back into a bun, showcasing a pair of emerald drop earrings, gave a charming smile as the trio posed for photos.

Adams follows in he footsteps of Jean Dujardin, Nicole Kidman, Peter Sarsgaard, Christoph Waltz, Stanley Tucci, Vera Farmiga, Kristin Scott Thomas and Ryan Gosling with the coveted honour from SBIFF bosses.
The prize was 'was created in recognition of an actor who has forged his/her own path', according to the festival website.
SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling praised the star in a statement released when she was announced this year's honouree.
'Amy Adams is one of the gutsiest and most gifted actors working today,' he said.

'She embodies what the Cinema Vanguard Award is all about, and after her performance in THE MASTER - the time has come to recognize her talent and versatility.'
Amy received her fourth Oscar nomination for best supporting actor thanks to her role in the Paul Thomas Anderson drama, which also sees nods for Joaquin Phoenix (Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role).
The Academy Awards are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on February 24.
