First trailer for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom

Moonrise Kingdom
Wes Anderson’s return to live-action is a story of young love and adventure, starring a host of Anderson favourites
We last heard from indie auteur Wes Anderson back in 2009 with the release of the glorious Fantastic Mr Fox starring George Clooney as the voice of Roald Dahl’s vulpine hero. The next entry on Anderson’s film CV is Moonrise Kingdom, starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton, alongside Anderson regulars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman.

It’s the story of young Sam and Suzy, two 12 year olds who abscond from summer camp in search of an adventure, causing the local adults to mount a search party. The trailer feels like classic Anderson, with romantic kids and oddball adults playing the absurd absolutely straight. It’s more than a little reminiscent of last year’s Submarine in fact, which shouldn’t come as a surprise seeing as Richard Ayoade’s debut feature was steeped in Anderson’s influence.
Moonrise Kingdom comes out in the US on May 25th, though a UK release date has yet to be announced. Watch the first trailer below.
