Heartwarming moment that police bring Santa to home of two boys whose father was killed in car crash during family trip to see Father Christmas

Police in Georgia made a house call with Santa Claus in tow to the home of two young boys whose father was killed in a car crash this week.
Sabrina Evans, the wife of the deceased man, was driving her family to Athens from their home in Covington to see Santa on Monday, the night of the crash.
It was the couple's 14th  wedding anniversary and their two boys, 7-year-old Joel and 5-year-old Chase, were in the back seat.

Evans said she didn't see an oncoming car when she tried to turn and the car was broadsided. Her husband, Tyler, was killed.
'My first instinct was to get my kids out of the car, because he was screaming he couldn’t breathe,' Evans told wsbtv.com. 'I don’t know. I have to live with the guilt on me,' she added, crying.

She and the boys received minor injuries, but the boys’ Christmas list was recovered from the wreck.
Police were touched by the tragedy and helped purchase and wrap the gifts on their Christmas lists, which included several Lego games for Wii.

On Thursday, police brought the gifts and Santa to the Evans' home.
'I told them that I called Santa and told him that we were on our way the other day and that we were in an accident, but we were going to try to make it for them to see him,' Evans told wsbtv.com.
One of the boys opened the front door when they arrived and a big smile spread across his face as Santa greeted him.

Inside the house, police and media gathered near the Christmas tree that the boys had decorated with their now-deceased father and watched as the boys, grinning, climbed onto Santa's lap and unwrapped gifts.
'We see a lot of terrible things happen as police offers,' Covington Police Officer Ken Malcom said. 'Anytime we can do something to help, it really helps. It helps us, as police officers, dealing with tragedies.'
