Who's that girl? Keri Russell goes undercover in a bad wig and frumpy outfit for new spy series

Her fellow Mouseketeers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera used to absolutely idolize her.

But the pop stars would hardly recognize Keri Russell on the New York set of The Americans Thursday where the beautiful 36-year-old wigged out for an upcoming episode.

The Golden Globe winner stars as sleeper agent Elizabeth Jennings on the 1982-set Cold War drama, premiering on FX January 30.

In the spy series, a group of Soviet KGB officers have been trained to impersonate American citizens, with a cover which may even include an unwitting spouse and family.

The Waitress star looked like dowdy schoolteacher complete with large mumsy eyeglasses, a cream-coloured coat over a secretary-style blouse, grey pleated skirt, and black loafer heels.

Just faking this time! Back in 1999 when Keri shed her long curly locks for the second season of Felicity, the WB notoriously blamed the show's poor ratings on her pixie cut

Back in 1999 when Keri shed her long curly locks for the second season of Felicity, The WB network notoriously blamed the show's poor ratings on her pixie cut.

But on Thursday she appeared to be having a laugh with the cast and crew as she gently tugged on the short, unflattering wig.

Keri was seen shooting with her onscreen husband Philip played by Welsh actor Matthew Rhys.

The 38-year-old looked similarly business attired in his oversized striped necktie and gelled, side-parted hair.

In the show, Elizabeth and Philip find their KGB-arranged marriage growing more passionate and genuine on a daily basis.

The Russian spy show also stars Noah Emmerich as Stan Beeman, Jennings' new FBI agent neighbor.
