Rooney Mara proved she was a style chameleon on Thursday, going from a biker babe to a feminine vision in white in New York.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star showed why well picked basics and simple colours are the stylish way to dress for any occasion.
White hot: A few hours later the star ditched
the black in favour of a stunning white outfit to walk the carpet for
the premier of Side Effects
Biker babe: Rooney Mara dressed in a simple but
fashion forward biker look in New York on Thursday before switiching
into a white creation for the red carpet
The star had cool down to a fashion science donning an almost completely black outfit of fisherman pants, black lace-up boots, a black leather jacket, white t-shirt and a grey oversized scarf.
But do not think just because her outfit consisted of simple pieces with clean lines it came at a bargain price tag, the star's bag alone cost more than $5000.
The Row Tall Day Luxe Bag is one of the high-priced creations by former child stars turned designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Minimally amazing: The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo star also wore minimal accessories and make-up
Despite having a bag which should have
given her an instant confidence boost, the Academy Award nominated
actress looked unsure as she walked the streets of New York.Hiding behind a pair of dark glasses and with her brunette hair tucked behind her ears, the star held her hand to her head at one point as if lost or confused.
There was no such lack of confidence however, when she walked out on the red carpet a few hours later.
Rooney looked like a couture angel as she posed for the premiere of her film Side Effects at the AMC Lincoln Square in New York City.
Not so simple on the wallet: While her outfit
featured basic pieces it was far from cheap with the actress' bag
costing more than $5000 alone
Looking perfectly polished the 27-year-old wore a stunning white dress with floral detail and a ruffle edge. The dress was made more edgy - but still feminine - by a second layer a cropped long-sleeve matching top with heavily embellished shoulders, which the actress wore over the top.
Rooney made sure to keep with her simple is more mantra wearing her hair parted in the middle and slicked back.
The actress also kept her accessories to a minimum wearing almost no jewelry and just unintrusive patent nude slingback heels.
Lost something? The 27-year-old appeared confused during her walk
In her latest movie, Rooney plays a wife of a hapless trader - played by Channing Tatum - who after he is released from prison, struggles to understand his wife as she slips into a deep depression. When she seeks out the help of a psychiatrist - Jude Law - the thriller begins.
The film is directed by Steven Soderbergh who heaped praise on the actress in a recent Vogue interview.
The X Factor: The star says she is often hypercritical of herself
'(She has) the X factor that you can’t really teach, that watchability
that an actor needs,' he told the magazine.
'My job was to make sure my camera was in the right place to capture it, to get what she was putting across.'
Despite being highly acclaimed, Rooney said she struggles to be happy with what she does.
'I’m hypercritical of myself. Anytime I see anything I’ve done, I wish that it had gone differently because you figure it out as you go along, and you’re always discovering new things. I’d probably feel that way about anything that I did.'
