The lonely hearts club: Britney Spears shops with her mother on first Valentine's Day since splitting from her fiance

She announced her split from fiancé Jason Trawick last month.
And Thursday marked Britney Spears’ first Valentine’s Day since becoming a newly single woman.
But the singer wasn’t about to spend it moping and instead wisely decided the best cure for a broken heart was a girly day out.

Retail therapy: Newly single Britney Spears spent her Valentine's Day shopping with her mother Lynne

Britney joined her mother Lynne for a spot of shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond in Calabasas.
The star licked an orange lollipop and carried two packets of cigarettes and a lighter as she left the store.
The mother and daughter duo then headed to Malibu where they spent the afternoon visiting friends.
Britney, 31, was sporting a rather bizarre hairdo for the retail therapy session.
Her bleached blonde locks were piled in an updo which looked as though it had started off being elegant, only to grow dishevelled over the course of the day.

Redecorating?: The pair were seen browsing items at Bed Bath and Beyond in Calabasas before heading to Malibu to visit some friends

The Till The World Ends hit-maker covered her curves in a pale pink cowl neck top.
She also wore bleached skinny jeans tucked into brown leather boots, and walked confidently despite the shoes’ platform.

 

Meanwhile Lynne cut a youthful figure in a houndstooth jacket over a brown camisole, jeans and grey wedged ankle boots.
Earlier in the day Britney shared the music video for the remix of her new single Scream and Shout on her Twitter page.

Britney parades around in a cutaway Adidas black and gold tracksuit top, tiny shorts and T-strap stiletto heels.
The song has already been met by controversy with rapper Eve claiming Britney didn't even sing on the Scream and Shout track.
On Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live Eve set tongues wagging when she said: 'I heard that might not be Britney.'
In response Britney’s spokesperson told TMZ: 'Britney 'It’s absolute B.S. Britney sang the song. Will.i.am wanted her for this song and she sang on it.'
